Welcome! Bienvenida! Bem-Vindo!
Welcome to Mrs. Hawthorne's fourth grade science website. This site is designed to compliment lessons done in class and enhance our study of force and motion and simple machines. Here, you will explore, perform experiments, and even play games while learning about physics! Use this site at home and with family to explore new and exciting ways to extend your learning.
Below is a link to the fourth grade science standards used to design and sequence the included lessons and activities.
Additionally, the application of Bloom's Three Domains of Learning were used in the lessons and activities present on this website. They are identified as: cognitive (mental skills - knowledge), affective (growth in feeling or emotional areas - attitude/self), and psychomotor (manual or physical skills). Below is a link to Bloom's Learning Domains, which elaborates on each identified domain.
Mrs. Hawthorne's Bio:
Hello All! My name is Mrs. Hawthorne and I am a fourth grade teacher at Salem School. I grew up in Naugatuck, went to school here, and then obtained my BA in English and Elementary Education from Fordham University in the Bronx. Currently I am pursuing my MS of Teaching at WestConn. This is my tenth year teaching fourth grade and I am so excited to share in all of the exciting adventures science exploration has in store for us. Science is one of my favorite subjects to teach - we get to try new things, test theories, create our own experiments, and apply everything we learn to the real world around us! The best part is that it's a hands on subject. So get ready to roll up your sleeves and start conducting some investigations!
