Directions:
After reading about and watching video clips displaying examples of the six simple machines, you will now recreate one that solves a common problem you have. Do you often have too much laundry on your bedroom floor that needs picking up or is that bag of dog food in the pantry simply too heavy to carry to the kitchen by yourself? Choose a problem in your life that can be solved by using a simple machine. You will then recreate this machine by using a drawing, diagram, or model to show how it solves your proposed problem.

In creating your example you must do the following:
1. Explain in writing: Explain the problem you have, the simple machine you will use to solve the problem, and why this machine is a good fit for your problem scenario.
2. Be able to demonstrate how your problem will be solved by using the simple machine chosen through either a drawing, diagram, or model. (If you would like to display your problem scenario/simple machine solution in another way not listed here, submit your request for my approval.)
3. Prepare to present your scenario to classmates in a clear, organized way. You will have to explain your problem and simple machine solution in words and show how your problem is solved through the use of the simple machine you chose. Be ready to answer questions about your scenario from classmates and teachers.

The written portion of this assessment will be completed on the designated materials provided previously in class. You will hand this in on the due date. On the same date, you will come to class prepared to display your example with whatever materials are necessary to do so. YOU are responsible for bringing these to class and setting up. Please let me know if you have any questions before beginning your project.
